Past Production: The Sun Shining On Her Hands

“We had a brilliant evening at Trip the Light Theatre Co’s production… Great work from a new young company!” – Total Insight Theatre

“The Sun Shining On Her Hands offers a very timely feminist interpretation of the character of Marie from Woyzeck, while also being a very experimental and engaging production in its own right.” – Ana Manilovic, Litro Magazine

“… [these] show and dance-oriented productions in general are about feeling and invoking an emotional response. The Sun Shining On Her Hands does this, and then some.” – Michael Davis, Female Arts

“I enjoyed every moment of it and would not hesitate to go to see more of the work of this young and vibrant group.” – Rob Warren, Everything Theatre

“Living up to its expectations of ‘physical theatre’, the production shines a bright beam for [the genre].” – Emma Kay, Blogger

The Sun Shining On Her Hands

Inspired by Georg Büchner ‘s ‘Woyzeck’ and using real-life accounts of gender discrimination, this explosive visual production explores the struggle to be recognized as an individual in our modern world.

Using dynamic dance sequences, original music and a marriage of modern and old text, The Sun Shining On Her Hands is a unique theatrical creation that will leave you wanting more.

Development

The production was performed as a work-in-progress at the Rag Factory off Brick Lane in London in June 2015. We were one of 9 out of 120 applicants to be selected to be part of their April – July season.

The Sun Shining On Her Hands was then performed at The Bread and Roses Theatre (December 2015), and The AE Harris (March 2016).
